A KEIGHLEY company has sealed the deal with a new service.

Viking Industrial – a specialist distributor of tapes, adhesives and sealants – has successfully adapted its Enimac adhesive tape application machines to provide an additional facility.

And the first contract – to add double-sided tape to 21,000 flat pack cardboard boxes for a West Midlands-based print and packaging group, on behalf of a multi-national retail sector customer – has been completed.

In addition, Viking Industrial has undertaken a further contract to apply an anti-slip tape to one side of a surface – and a double-sided tape to the reverse – which is being used by another client for protecting stairs in new-build projects within the construction sector.

Craig Smith, Viking's technical manager, says: "The tape application service is very quick, accurate and extremely cost-effective.

"We have the ability to apply up to 1,000 pieces per hour and have identified significant potential to roll out the service to other customers across the UK's printing, sign and contract packaging sectors."

Meanwhile, the company is continuing to market potential sales of the state-of-the-art Enimac machines across a range of sectors after securing a UK-wide distribution deal with the Italian-based manufacturer of the equipment late last year.

An in-house demonstration suite featuring the Enimac range is housed at Viking’s headquarters, in Royd Ings Avenue.

Established in 1969 and run by two generations of the Bennett family, Viking maintains a 'preferred distributor' status partnership with global technology giant 3M and remains its online partner in the UK.

Last year, Viking was crowned Industrial Retail Specialist of the Year in the Yorkshire Prestige Awards.

Judges described the firm as "a trusted leader" within the industry.

The Yorkshire Prestige Awards, run by information services provider Corporate LiveWire, recognise small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their markets.

All shortlisted companies have to support their nomination with evidence of their work, positive feedback from clients, and information about previous accreditations and recognition – as well as highlighting the most outstanding parts of their business.

Viking was noted for its affiliation with a number of "renowned" manufacturers, particularly the 3M conglomerate.

And earlier this year, Viking was awarded a coveted accreditation known as AS9120, which is unique to the aerospace sector.

The company has around 50 long-standing customers in the industry, which it supplies with a range of products on behalf of 3M.
