Press release from the issuing company

Leading total tapes solutions provider Essentra Tapes has revealed it is stepping up the production of its RE:CLOSE resealable tape solution for the LATAM region following a surge in market interest. As the market continues to shift in favour of packaging that provides a beneficial end-user experience, converters are increasingly looking to integrate reclosable packaging into new and existing production lines.

Keeping pace with consumer needs and, better yet, their desires is a continual challenge, but reseal features are one way that packaging can both prevent product waste and gain consumer market share.

In addition to the affordability and simplicity of integrating RE:CLOSE tape, another reason for the ongoing shift lies in the growing consumer demand for companies to show environmental responsibility. Brand owners and consumers are seeking out products that offer sustainable solutions and maintain convenience. RE:CLOSE addresses both of these needs. By retrofitting state-of-the-art applicators, brands and their packaging manufacturers can actively engage consumers in the journey and explain the vital role packaging plays in supporting the environment.

“The resealability market throughout Latin America is growing rapidly,” said Ian Beresford, Essentra Tapes’ Head of Marketing and Development. “Consumers are demonstrating a clear preference for brands marketed in reclosable packaging, and regional brands and suppliers are actively seeking out our RE:CLOSE tape to meet growing demand.”

Integration of RE:CLOSE tape into flexible packaging is seen as the finishing touch that consumers come to expect today. It is becoming increasingly popular in the pantry goods and snacking aisles. It can deliver practical benefits such as freshness, ease of use, food waste reduction, storability, convenience and flexibility, whilst allowing brands to maintain their packaging and therefore brand presence in the home. Better still, RE:CLOSE tape is a high-impact promotional carrier that allows you to change the tape and not the pack when running on-pack promotions. This means you can temper the impact that promotional and seasonal packaging changes can have on the waste and costs of a business.

“Consumers worldwide are showing clear messages regarding their packaging preferences, seeking out options that are better for the environment,” added Beresford. “Greener solutions like recyclable, biodegradable and refillable are rooted in Latin American consumer minds, and yet there is still a gap between what consumers want and the available solutions offered. That’s why Carlos Valle and his team on the ground are prioritising sustainable packaging solutions in Latin America.”

Across the world, the food waste problem is getting attention—and for a good reason. Food waste is an issue of enormous scale, with devastating humanitarian, environmental, and economic consequences that will only become more critical as our global population grows.

“As food prices rise, reclosable features migrate from high-value goods to lower-value products. Creating a pack in a way that can be resealed easily and effectively helps prevent food waste and alleviates environmental impacts,” said Valle, Essentra Tapes’ LATAM Sales Manager. “Communicating the storage and freshness advantages with a reclose feature also increases brand value.”

Essentra Tapes deliver tear tapes and applicator solutions to diverse markets, including paper and board, flexible packaging, eCommerce, tobacco, and FMCG, across Europe, North and South America and Asia.
