The United States Postal Service (USPS) is sharing tips on packing boxes properly for shipping this holiday.

USPS says to choose a box that is large enough to safely hold the items you want to send, pack it so that the items inside do not move around, and use two-inch wide packaging tape to tape the box to make it Close tightly on all sides without bulging.

Make sure that the shipping label of the package is clearly written or printed, use ink that will not stain, and do not forget the postal code that includes the recipient's address and the return address.

These steps help keep the post office's lines unimpeded, but postal employees say they are ready to help.

"They are always welcome to bring products in line and say,'I need something.' Even if we are with another customer, we will stop and say'I'm sorry', and then we will tell them what packaging to use, "Said Yolanda Porras, a salesperson at Paso Robles, the U.S. Post Office.

The post office also provides packaging supplies.

If you are eager to send holiday gifts to relatives far away, the deadline for ground service and first-class mail service is still a few weeks away.
